Site Outages

It would appear that my hosting company is experiencing some issues with one of their database servers, affecting access to the forums.

They're working on the problem and I hope they're resolved at this point.

If you try to get there and cannot gain access, be assured I'm aware of it and I'm in contact with them.

Sorry for any inconveniences.

Predators use gaming consoles to 'get foot in the door'

By Wendy Koch, USA TODAY

Sexual predators are using gaming consoles such as the Wii, PlayStation and Xbox to meet children online.

"Child predators are migrating from traditional methods to alternate media," says Detective Lt. Thomas Kish of the Michigan State Police. "They are going to places where children are." Predators view games that allow kids to access the Internet and text message other players as a "foot in the door," he says.

Parents may not realize that gaming consoles have become Internet devices or that savvy kids can bypass parental controls, says Marc Rogers, director of Purdue University's Cyber Forensics Lab.

Police who have been doing stings in Internet chat rooms for years now are going undercover to catch predators playing interactive games, ranging from Grand Theft Auto to old-fashioned chess and checkers. They're making arrests.

AVG Linkscanner Toolbar Removal, made Easy!

Claus Valca over at Grand stream Dreams has gotten a tip from one of his readers that with the latest update to AVG the Linkscanner option is now much easier to remove from previous versions. Even tho they still say they won't be changing default install.

Good to see how much value they put into user feedback. As long as it don't affect the bottom line, they can make changes. I'm not surprised.

Anyway, Claus has a smokin' detailed tutorial on how to get the Linkscanner toolbar removed and credit him for the length of time he obviously spent doing it. It rocks!

Web of Trust, Can You Trust It?

Web Of Trust: How Trustful Is It?

This site and software is similar in its workings as SiteAdvisor and SiteHound. With some major exceptions tho. Many of which are alarming IMHO.

Check it out and vote on the poll too.

WinPatrol USB Wristband

WinPatrol USB Wristband
After the creation of a stand alone version of WinPatrol it became obvious that users wanted to have their own flash memory based tool kit. I also thought it would be cool to have a WinPatrol brand flash memory stick so I created the WinPatrol USB Wristband.I couldn’t get one for myself without ordering a large batch so I’m making the wristbands available in the BillP Studios online store. Wristbands are currently available for $24.95
plus shipping until the supply runs out.

Zango Dissected By Ben Edelman

Zango: Continuing It's $$ Paved Road Of Deceit, Deception and Lies

Once again, the scum at Zango have been taken to task for their continued business model they claim provides some sort of content people want to see, but need to install their shitware for you to see it.

When in fact the exact opposite is true. They provide nothing but content that is either not what it purports to be, or taken from other sources, and illegally so says Ben and on top of that they also display sexually explicit content to those who view their site with no warnings at all.
